You ever read a verse you’ve seen a hundred times and suddenly it hits different? That’s been me lately with Isaiah 52:7:
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!” (NLT)
I’m sitting here thinking… feet? Feet aren’t glamorous. They’re dusty. Ordinary. Hidden. But in His Word, He calls them beautiful.
Here’s the thing: the Hebrew word for “brings good news” is mĕbasśer — it’s where we get the idea of a herald, someone running to announce victory. It’s not a slow walk. It’s not a shy whisper. It’s an urgent, loud, joyful proclamation: “Peace! Salvation! God reigns!”
And Paul grabs that same verse centuries later in Romans 10:15:
“How can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? … How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
The Greek word Paul uses for “good news” is euangelizomenōn — literally “those who announce the gospel.” That’s where we get evangelize. It’s the same picture as Isaiah: someone crossing mountains, breathless, with the news of victory.
This isn’t just Bible trivia. This is our story. The only reason you and I are sitting here today with Jesus in our lives is because someone else’s feet were moving.
Maybe it was a parent who prayed with you.
Maybe it was a friend who wouldn’t stop inviting you to church.
Maybe it was a pastor, a teacher, a stranger with a tract in a grocery store parking lot.
We’re here because somebody climbed over their own “mountains”—their fears, their schedule, their insecurities—and brought us the message.
That’s what blows me away:
We’re all the fruit of someone else’s beautiful feet.
And now the baton’s in our hands. Or maybe I should say… the message is in our feet.
We’re not called to keep God’s Word hidden; we’re called to motion. To take the everyday steps that carry Jesus into the lives of others. To text the hurting friend. To sit with the one who feels forgotten. To speak hope when it might feel awkward.
Here’s the Big Truth that landed on me like a freight train:
The most ordinary part of you becomes breathtaking when it’s moving in obedience to carry the message: “Your God reigns!”
If that’s not freedom, I don’t know what is.
You don’t need a platform to have beautiful feet. You don’t need a microphone or a title. All you need is a willing heart and the courage to keep walking—because every step in obedience echoes the footsteps of the One who came running after you.
So, friend, take a deep breath. Look at where He’s brought you. And remember: the same way someone’s feet brought you good news, your feet now carry it for somebody else.
Let’s be those messengers. Let’s be those beautiful feet.
