Reflecting on Psalm 16:1-2, where David cries out, "Keep me safe, O God, I’ve run for dear life to you. I say to God, 'Be my Lord!' Without you, nothing makes sense," I find myself resonating with that phrase deeply. In today’s world—where things are spinning so fast it’s hard to tell up from down—I know that without an active, daily relationship with Jesus, none of this would make sense. The things happening globally, in my own life, in society’s day-to-day—without Him, it would feel like pure chaos.
Using my physical eyes, I see freedoms eroding around the world. I’ll be honest: it’s deeply concerning. I don’t believe we, as believers, should live with our heads buried in the sand, oblivious to what’s happening. But neither do I believe we should get so wrapped up in the mess of this world that we lose sight of what God is doing right here, right now. If we’re not careful, we can get trapped in the daily feed of the world's collapse and end up drowning in fear or despair, forgetting that God already warned us these things would come.
Scripture tells us there will be a day when this world, as we know it, will pass away. For the Antichrist to appear on the scene, a stage of fear, panic, and complete control will already be set. But until that day comes, where do we focus our gaze? How do we keep our minds and hearts steady?
The answer is Jesus. His Word. Prayer. Connection. Relationship. The Church. These are the things that keep us grounded, centered, and protected from being swept away by the tide of fear or confusion.
Right now, as believers, we sense God’s grace on our nation, and while there’s hope that our 47th president will bring a season of reprieve, this is not our cue to let our spiritual guard down. It’s not a return to "normal." It’s a reminder that this moment is a gift, and it’s time to prepare, to live out our faith boldly— by letting it shine through our lives full of love, hope, peace, kindness, and joy.
And this is where it gets real. Many people don’t have this hope. They look at this world, at the news, and feel fear and despair closing in. They feel deceived, angry, and lost as they try to make sense of the lies, the twists and turns in politics, the upheavals around the world. Without Christ, it’s like being in a storm with no anchor. But for us who believe? It’s different. With Jesus, we have a steady anchor. We have peace in knowing that we are seen, loved, and guided by the Creator of it all.
So, my friend, if we’re going to make it through these times, we need to dig deep. Not in fear, but in faith. Not by reacting to every headline, but by grounding ourselves in the truth that doesn’t change. The Holy Spirit is waiting—actively—to guide every single step. He’s here to remind us that we have the answer, that we don’t have to live tossed around by every storm. Because with Christ, everything finally makes sense.
Let’s stand boldly, not hiding our faith but letting it show through our lives. Let’s live so that others see the difference. We can’t change the world’s course, but we can change how we respond. We can point others to the same peace and hope that holds us steady, a hope that doesn’t depend on world events but on the unchanging love and power of Jesus.
So, in these times, go deeper. Lean into prayer, dig into His Word, strengthen your relationship with Him. And remember, no matter what comes, He’s already in control. Without Him, nothing makes sense—but with Him, even the chaos has purpose.
