For Anyone New to Unfiltered Faith... Here's the Heart Behind It
I remember growing up, school was definitely not my thing.
I went to school because, well, I was the social butterfly—not because I was the studious one. Every subject except typing, music, and reading left my head spinning... and yes, that included English. While I proudly knew my prepositions and nouns, commas and apostrophes? Total chaos. (And yet, I lived with the Grammar Queen herself—my mom. LOL!) Oh, and adjectives? Honestly, still a mystery some days.
Maybe it had something to do with growing up between two countries—my early years in the U.S. and my school years in Spain as a missionary kid. Either way, while I didn’t earn “Most Studious” in my senior yearbook, I did land the title for "Most Hilarious Laugh." I mean... priorities, right? 😄
But here’s why I’m telling you all this:
Even with all my academic struggles, the Lord planted a dream in my heart early on—to write. It started with my first attempt at a blog back in the mid-2000s (don't do the math... I'm still 29 in my head, thank you very much), and somehow, that dream never let go.
Now here I am—years later—living out what feels like a calling:
to write from the deep well of stories I’ve lived, to share the real, raw faith journey of what God has done (and is still doing) in my life, and to give hope to anyone who feels like they’re still in the trenches.
Because here’s the truth:
We don’t grow by hiding the battles we’ve survived.
We grow by sharing them.
By being honest about the hard, the beautiful, the hilarious, and the messy parts of following Jesus.
And that's what Unfiltered Faith is all about:
Real stories. Real struggles. Real Jesus.
