The Red Poppy:
I want to tell you about the red poppy—this delicate yet resilient flower that holds so much meaning for me and for my ministry, Unveiled Living. Poppies aren’t just beautiful; they’re survivors. They bloom in soil that’s been disturbed, land that’s gone through a battle, and that’s exactly where they thrive. They show up in the roughest places, a symbol of beauty rising out of hardship. That’s why the red poppy is more than just our logo—it’s the heartbeat of what Unveiled Living stands for.
Like that poppy, I know what it’s like to grow through hard seasons. In 2012, my life took a turn I never saw coming. After almost 22 years of marriage, I went through a divorce—a season that left me feeling isolated, like I was marked with a scarlet letter “D'“ on my forehead. As a pastor’s wife, I felt like I was on an island all by myself. I lost friends I thought would stand by me, faced people who no longer spoke to me, and felt shunned from the community I’d given my life to. And yet, even in that pain, God was working in the soil of my life.
Before that season, I’d faced other trials: I’d answered a call to missions and moved to Ireland, only to see that dream collapse within two years. I’d wrestled with a deep sense of failure, questioning who I was and what God wanted to do with my life. In those moments, I felt broken and lost, like the very ground beneath me had been shaken.
But through every battle, God was preparing me for something I couldn’t yet see. He was building a new purpose in my life, piece by piece, showing me that even in my brokenness, He was crafting something beautiful. Out of these experiences—out of the muck, as I call it—Unveiled Living was born. My vision was simple but powerful: to create a safe place for women who feel alone, to be a voice that says, “You’re not by yourself in this.”
Why Unveiled Living Exists
Unveiled Living was created because I believe no woman should journey through life alone. We’re all facing something—whether it’s loss, uncertainty, unmet expectations, or rediscovering our faith. I wanted to build a space where women could come together, share their stories, and find hope in knowing they’re not alone. But I didn’t want it to stop there. I envisioned a place where we could also grow deeper in our walk with God because, if there’s one thing I’ve learned in my hardest seasons, it’s the importance of a strong foundation in Christ. Looking back, I see battles I might have avoided—or handled better—if I had been more grounded in God’s truth, even as a pastor’s wife.
Over the past few years, this vision has grown into something more than I could have imagined. Today, Unveiled Living offers digital Bible studies (launched this Fall), a quarterly digital magazine filled with inspiring stories (now on its 11th edition!), weekly blog devotionals, the Heart Talk and Pursue Worship podcasts, and soon, the exciting re-launch of our HopeStyle & Co. inspirational merch store—all created to nurture and strengthen your walk with God.
But at its core, Unveiled Living is more than just resources. It’s a place where you can be real, take off the masks, and discover what it means to live unveiled in God’s love and freedom. And trust me, it’s the most beautiful place to be.
Walking This Journey Together
In every broken piece of my story, God has shown me that I’m not alone—and neither are you. I’ve walked through dark seasons, experienced the loneliness that can come with life’s toughest battles, and learned firsthand that God’s love meets us even in the places that feel barren. Just like that red poppy growing in the hardest soil, God brings beauty out of the battles we face. That’s the message I want every woman to hear through Unveiled Living: that you’re not alone, and together, we’re all moving closer to the freedom and purpose God has called us to.
